The last few years Tony and myself have taken our bikes across Denman and Hornby Island to drop off Bike to Work Week posters. This year we took out mountain bikes to hit some of the trails on Hornby Island. We also wanted to go with limited gear, carrying just a front pouch on our bikes. I was able to fit my Canon EOS-M with the 22mm lens, a rain coat, a flash with some 10yr old Laphroaig, bike repair supplies.
After dropping posters and having the 2nd coffee of the day, we headed to Hornby and took the Shingle Spit trail to Ford’s Cove. From there we headed up to the fantastic views of the Outer Ridge trail to the Summit of Mt Geoffrey. Taking in the views with a nip of scotch, it was then off via The Way, Mr Toads Wild Ride, Four Dead Aliens (bottom), NorthWind Trail, Washing Machine, and Colts Foot to Tribune Bay beach and some refuelling time via snack food and beer.
The ride back was more road based but we were able to get some nice relaxing time and reminisced over the time I had to run for the Hornby Island ferry after a ill timed flat tire.
It is always a good trip, enjoy the photos below.
