Located in one of Old Havana’s crumbling neighborhoods, the “Rafael Trejo” Gimnasio al Aire Libre, an open air training facility for local boxing enthusiasts. Named after a revolutionary hero who was shot in 1936, it is a facility for young and not-so-young pugilists to learn and train for their country’s second favorite sport which is surpassed only by Cuba’s well-documented passion for baseball.
I spent a few hours here photographing different boxers. This one man stood out for me during my time here. Louis was pretty relaxed as I took a number of photographs of him during his training. After spending time here I was able to bring a number of photos back to the club.
